The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 passed the House of Representatives on August 13th and now it will head to President Biden’s desk for his signature. While it is not perfect, it will reduce US emissions 40% below 2005 levels by 2030, create 1.4 million new jobs, expand the U.S. economy by nearly one full percentage point, and prevent up to 3,900 premature deaths annually, mostly in communities of color. Please take a moment to thank your representative for voting to pass this life saving legislation.
While the Inflation Reduction Act does not affect the Mountain Valley Pipeline in any way, its passage is linked to a separate bill to greenlight the Mountain Valley Pipeline through a deal between Senators Manchin and Schumer. Even as we thank our representatives for finally passing sweeping climate legislation, we need to let them know that they must vote against ANY legislation that facilitates construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
Please, take a moment to send a note to your representative about the Inflation Reduction Act and urging them to block the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
