The Promoting Offshore Wind Energy Resources (POWER) Act would proactively plan for and build the electric grid updates we need to ensure affordable, reliable, clean electricity for Marylanders. Future wind farms could plug into the upgraded and expanded electricity grid, generating consumer savings and making it possible to build the clean energy we so desperately need. The POWER Act would also make it the official goal of Maryland to build 8.5 gigawatts of offshore wind before 2031, build another gigawatt of offshore wind in the near term, and strengthen labor standards for offshore wind projects at the same time.
