I am reaching out as a concerned constituent to ask for your strong support in prioritizing key revenue raising legislation during the current legislative session.

As you know, Maryland must take bold, immediate action to prevent taxpayers from paying the costs that are piling up due to climate change impacts, extreme weather, and diverse adaptation needs across the state. Key bills such as the Responding to Emergency Needs and Extreme Weather (RENEW) Act (HB128 and SB0149), the Coal Dust Clean-Up and Asthma Mitigation Fund (HB1088/ SB0882 ), and the Climate Lawsuit Authority (HB340) codify the revenue streams that we need as we move forward in the climate crisis. These bills bring in essential revenue for Maryland during difficult fiscal times.

I urge you to:
* Support the RENEW Act during legislative session in order to protect your constituents from the escalating costs of adapting to climate change and the direct costs of climate change impacts. In order to MAKE POLLUTERS PAY!
* Advocate for the passage all of these bills to bring in dedicated climate funding and ensure Maryland can hold fossil fuel companies accountable. 
* Engage your colleagues in supporting these policies that will move Maryland toward its climate goals and create good-paying jobs in the green economy.

Time is of the essence. Climate action cannot wait. The decisions made in the coming months will have lasting impacts on our environment, economy, and the health of future generations. I am asking you to use your leadership to help ensure that Maryland remains a national leader in climate solutions.
