Black and Brown communities are on the frontlines of the climate crisis due to historical, intentional vulnerabilities that are often baked into the fabric of our communities. The combined effects of community features such as limited tree cover, the health impacts of environmental racism, and the economic inequities of an unjust society, all work to increase Black and Brown communities’ exposure to extreme weather while reducing their ability to recover from such events.
