On June 4, the Committee on Transportation and Environment at the D.C. Council hosted a hearing on the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Study Amendment Act (AKA the “make polluters pay” study bill). If this bill is passed, the District will complete a study to examine the financial impact of climate change on the District, building the case for making billion-dollar fossil fuel polluters cover the cost, rather than Washingtonians.
