It’s gametime in the Maryland General Assembly. In just a few weeks, all bills must pass their chamber of origin and move to the other chamber in order to have a chance at becoming law — a date known as crossover. Between now and then, we need to make sure that as many of our priority clean energy and climate bills pass as possible. How do we do that? By continuing to apply grassroots pressure: sending postcards to legislators, calling them, submitting testimony, and showing up in Annapolis. To do that we need YOU! During the meeting, we’ll update you on what’s happening, then leave time for us to talk to each other about why these issues are personally important to us – our foundational climate stories that we can use to help us take action and recruit others to join our work. We’ll focus on legislation to increase investments in solar battery storage and in public transit, as well as helping to hold polluters accountable for their contributions to the climate crisis. Then we’ll provide storytelling worksheets for you to craft your own story! Here’s an overview of our priority legislation that still needs pressure to pass before crossover: Affordable Solar Act (House Bill 0345/Senate Bill 0341)
Data Center Clean Capacity (House Bill 0940/Senate Bill 0596)
Climate Crimes Accountability Act (House Bill 0572/Senate Bill 0432)
Transportation & Climate Alignment Act (House Bill 0437/Senate Bill 0059)
Land-based Wind Study (House Bill 0629/Senate Bill 0429)
YOU can help pass these bills. YOU can make victory possible. Sign up now for our Legislative Action Night! See you there,
